January 26, 2012 – 5pm, 2 people – drinks and a light dinner in the bar

Met up with a friend from work (she works in the Field Office, close to the restaurant) for dinner and a beverage after work. Dark wood dominates the bar area which has a half dozen or so high 4 person tables in addition to the bar itself.

The happy hour menu is available daily from 4-7pm and includes both a selection of food and beverages all for $5 a pop; except for the Latin beers at $3.

I highly recommend their margarita – wonderful flavor and easily dangerous if planning on having 2 or 3. The red sangria was also sampled and enjoyed.

We shared an order of house made guacamole and chips – the chips are also made on site and included the traditional corn but also plantain and another large round white root vegetable. This was excellent and more than enough reason to come back and sample again with another margarita! We also split an order of Black Bean Empanadas which were served fresh dices tomatoes and cucumbers. The beans were a little spicy but nothing outrageous and very flavorful.

I will not hesitate to head back here to sample more of their ‘Latin Street Food’ (what they call the happy hour selections) and to try their mojitos – as they seemed to be a hit by the number of patrons ordering them.

Total Cost: $20 plus tax & tip (2 drinks, 2 food items) ~$28 total
