Restaurant Week Menu
We visited this establishment for restaurant week and ordered off the RW menu. The service was attentive without being smothering and helped make for a great evening out.
- heirloom tomatoes – seasonal greens, clemson blue cheese, benton’s bacon, pickled vidalia onions
- shenandoah steak tartare – brioche, garlic crisps, micro herb salad, sweet onion soubise
- berkshire pork posole – hominy, peppers, cabbage, cilantro, lime, cracklings
The pork polose was the most unique of the trio – a stew type dish with very rich flavors. The tomatoes were rave worthy mingling with the cheese, bacon and onions. The tartare was tasty but not for everyone.
- shrimp and grits – anson mill’s grits, vidalia onion, spinach tasso ham, shellfish emulsion
- sorghum-spiced glazed pork chop – crawfish, braised heirloom bean ragout, apple butter, whiskey reduction/li>
- new york strip steak – spinach purée, cipollini onions, potato pavé
Both the beef and the pork were tender and flavorful, although the beef seemed slight more towards medium than the medium rare ordered. We also ordered two sides (up charges) for the table: low country greens with benton’s bacon and spicy vinegar and baked macaroni with smoked ham and amish cheddar cheese. The greens were rather smokey but balanced well with the vinegar.
- georgia pecan tart – bourbon caramel sauce, vanilla bean ice cream
- peanut butter “s’more” – peanut butter, chocolate cream, graham cracker crust, toast marshmallow fluff
- red velvet cheesecake – crème fraîche cheesecake, red velvet sponge, berry compote, salted caramel
The desserts were sinful and a wonderful way to round out the meal.
We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir of the RW wine menu for $35. Waitstaff did point out that unfinished bottles could be taken home.
Total Cost: ~$225 plus ~$45 tip
