Too many dates and times to list. Happy hours in the bar, a favorite place to bring out of town visitors, occasional bite to eat after work with friends

When I first moved to area and began working downtown, a friend brought be here one day after work for sangria. This was the first of multiple visits, almost always involving their sangria and soon to be followed with their tapas. But first their sangria: the red is made with brandy and apples – no citrus, but they also have a sparkling white with strawberries and mint. Both are addictive and very potent.

When food is ordered, whether in the bar or at a table, bread is served with olive oil, rosemary and garlic for dipping. I can not speak to their paellas as I have never gotten around to ordering one (they feed 2-4 people) as the people I’m with tend to go the tapas route. The selection changes over depending on ingredient availability.

Some Favorites:

Dátiles con tocino ‘como hace todo el mundo’
Fried dates wrapped in bacon that you will want to eat every day 8.5

Manzanas con hinojo y queso Manchego
Sliced apple and fennel salad with Manchego cheese, walnuts and Sherry dressing 8.5

Espinacas a la catalana
Sautéed spinach, pine nuts, raisins and apples 7.

Chistorra envuelta en patata frita
Slightly spicy chorizo wrapped in a crispy potato 7.5

Vieiras con calabaza y clementinas
Seared scallops with butternut squash purée, clementines and pumpkin seeds 10.

We typically order 3-4 each and eat family style, ordering in waves to keep the food coming hot (and enough room on the table). I have brought numerous family and friends here during their visits and have yet to have a poor experience. Definitely a place I look forward to experiencing again and again.

Total Cost: Moderate for DC
